THE
ARAB WRITER / SARAH TALEB ELSOHAIL
LITERAL AND
SCIENTIFIC LIFE
Sarah Taleb Al-Sohail is a simple human being, linked
to land and
nature, has social nature, adventurer; likes to travel and learn from the others' experiences
and cultures as well. She has got a great interest in reading -because it is
the key to everything-, She is from (Tmimah) Iraqi tribal assets linked to land
and roots, in spite of the contemporary
modern life and the hard times She is experiencing.
۞ Her father is an Iraqi ;Sheikh /Taleb
al-Sohail.
She was
born in Jordan and
studied at its
schools and
completed
her
university education in London
and later studied in Cairo.
Concerning that
she had been born with a tendencies and penchants for literature, poetry and
reading, she said:
" Since my childhood, I loved
literature, I was encouraged by my father to that, he used to buy me stories
and novels that promote patriotism, and some literary works of great writers in
both of the Arab countries and the world, in addition to that; my mother also
encouraged me and used to take me to the library.
I started at an early age to write
children's stories and I was habitual to gather all my nieces, nephews and
young children of my relatives to read to them what I write of stories and
hence I've been associating with writing for children, where my writings were
admired by whom I read to, therefore some kind of strong- link and mutual trust
have been created between me and the children, I was attracted to this beautiful
world `childhood world`, consequently I found
myself living their beautiful innocence
in the meanwhile. I do not deny that my writings and defending the children were
stemmed from my sympathetic feelings for our children in Iraq and Palestine, which I
expressed it through the story of "Pearl
and the Land" by expressing the Palestinian issue and the children of Palestine.
Some
poetical works:-
♣Divan of "Saheel Kohila" of 2000 includes
poetry in colloquial overwhelmed by Gulf dialect.
♣Divan "Nejmet Sohail" released in 2002 includes
poetry in classical Arabic language.
♣Divan " Demaa Ala Ataab Baghdad " (Tear on
thresholds of Baghdad) released in 2005,
through it I expressed my sufferings for my nation Iraq and it's people,
who suffered a lot, this divan included my thrived literary status in Cairo and
the impacts of it's reflection on my poetical experience.
♣Talking about the books in press,
there's one which collects her articles which she wrote in all the Arab and
foreign countries. She writes a weekly article in "AL Watan Al
Arabi", some other in-print and
electronic newspaper . She also wrote in Al-Ahram, Al Gomhoria, Al-Hayat (London) and Asharq
Alawsat Newspaper. Her first article had been published in Al-Hayat in addition
to some other newspapers as: Asharq Alawsat and Al-Quds Newspaper, plus many
other articles in many Iraqi newspapers which are issued abroad, also the last
page article in some Arab magazines like "Al-Watan Al-Arabi"
magazine.
The children
stories:-
" Selma and the four mice " story,
the introduction was written by the late artist Abdul-Moniem Madbowly also was
translated into English language and became a children's play starred by Dalal
Abdul-Azeez and directed by Osama Ra'oof
"Noaman and the
good land "story, which printed later in Braille for the blind.
"Night of Christmas" story , the introduction was written by
Pope Shenouda, Patriarch of Saint Mark
Episcopate.
"Mountain summit" / "The sad wall of China "story is
a Chinese love story, which written in both of Chinese and Arabic languages
respectively.
" The pearls and the land " story, which dedicated to
Palestinian children and the Palestinian issue, it has been translated into
French language.
In addition to some children educational books such as " Letters
and numbers " for an example and others in print, expected to be released
soon like "The lake princess" which I hope you to read it soon.
As for her impressions about "writing for children's" :-
"I find an extreme joy through writing for children and
trying to reach their world and conveying my message to them through my novel
work and defend their rights and their innocence, which are being stolen by us.
For politics, I'd like to assure that nothing in our life is away of it even
the "bread" is politics the same for Literary work, where the writer
is trying showing his own political point of view through an article of his,
concerning not being a professional in political writing I leave it to it's
experts, but that doesn't mean not to express my opinion of any political topic
through an article or discussion with friends. First and foremost the writer is
an individual of this nation and affects on whatever surrounds him especially
in our Arab world. There're also some stories which work on the political
education of the children which also implant belonging and instill patriotism
in a tiny heart to grow with all together" she said.
